Our reservation at Rimessa Roscioli was a last-minute arrangement after our pasta class with another company was canceled. I didn't quite know what to expect since I booked it without doing much research. The night before, we had dined at its sister restaurant, Roscioli Salumeria con Cucina, a reservation I had made months in advance. Would the meals be the same? What should we order here?
Such questions were swirling in my mind until I saw "Degustazione Della Tradizione" on their menu. I convinced my husband to give it a go! Surprisingly, the 65 euro cost also included wine pairings, something I hadn't anticipated.
The cacio e pepe, one of the staple pasta dishes in Rome, was incredible! Throughout our stay in Rome, we made a point of having cacio e pepe at every meal, and Rimessa Roscioli tops my list (with Da Enzo being a close second, and Roscioli Salumeria con Cucina coming in third). The wine paired with the dish was not only tasty but also interesting because it's aged in amphoras instead of oak barrels. Rimessa Roscioli runs a wine club and has gone to great lengths to bridge the gap between their customers and the winemakers. You can even watch a video by Marco Falcone about the whole process.
For the second course, Brandyn devoured the meatballs before I could snap a picture (see below). The third course, were aged cheeses served with an aged balsamic vinegar were out of this world. And the dolce was so delightful that we almost asked for seconds!
What made this meal truly enjoyable was the portion sizes - we left feeling satisfied but not overly stuffed.
Rimessa Roscioli has certainly earned a spot on my "MUST VISIT" list for future trips to Rome. I might also enquire about whether their pasta class is suitable for kids, as I'd love to learn how to make traditional Roman pastas such as Amatriciana, Carbonara, and Cacio e Pepe.
Always an adventure!

Nellie
