We began our evening with an early reservation at La Tagliata, aiming to take full advantage of the breathtaking view. A shuttle picked us up in town, ferrying us upwards through winding trails to our destination. The restaurant itself was an absolute delight, its beauty rivaled only by the sprawling vista beyond.
We were warmly welcomed by one of the sons who embodied the essence of this family-run establishment. He explained their unique dining philosophy - there was no menu. Instead, a lavish spread of dishes was served family-style, each carefully crafted in the kitchen by his parents. The only choice we were tasked with was whether we preferred red or white wine - vino rosso or blanco.
Antipasti: Parma ham and melon, bacon, homemade salami, little mozzarella cheeses, eggplant/aubergine parmigiana, steamed peas, chickpeas and beans, home-grown broccoli.
Primi: Homemade fresh pasta
Secondi: Steak, chicken, grilled veal, rabbit, sausage, lamb
Dolce: an assortment of cakes and limoncello
The entire experience was an epicurean delight, boasting a plentiful array of food. A word to the wise though, resist the bread - with the abundance of dishes to come, you'll want to avoid fillers! Beyond their gastronomic offerings, La Tagliata also provides cooking classes and accommodations for those wishing to prolong their stay. The experience was truly unforgettable, a culinary journey that will beckon us back in the future.
Always an adventure!
